Templates

AI agent templates you can run on a schedule

Short answer

AI agent templates in Crons are prebuilt scheduled agents for common recurring jobs, such as lead research, competitor price checks, SEO audits and invoice reconciliation. Each one comes with a plain English instruction, a schedule, ordered steps, memory rules and delivery to Slack, Gmail, HubSpot, Google Sheets or Notion.

What a Crons template gives you

A template is a finished cron that someone already thought through. It holds the sentence that describes the job, the parsed schedule with a timezone, every step the agent takes, the integrations it delivers to and the memory rules that stop it from repeating itself. You open it, change the parts that are specific to your team and save it as your own cron.

Nothing in a template is hidden. Every step is visible in the editor, and after the first run you see the full run log with inputs, outputs, retries and timing for each step. If you prefer to start from scratch, the same editor lets you write a schedule in plain English and build the steps yourself.

  • A plain English instruction you can edit word by word
  • A schedule and timezone, shown as a readable sentence and as a cron expression
  • Five to seven ordered steps, each with a clear label
  • Approval gates before steps that touch customers, your CRM or public channels
  • A memory policy so each run reports only what is new
  • A sample output so you know what the result looks like before the first run

Templates by department

The library is organised by the team that usually owns the work. Each template links to a longer use case page with more variations.

How to start from a template

  1. 1Open a template and read the instruction and the steps.
  2. 2Click Use this template. The cron opens in the editor with every field filled in.
  3. 3Change the sentence to match your targets, such as your competitor list or your ideal customer profile.
  4. 4Connect the integration it delivers to, for example Slack or HubSpot.
  5. 5Start a dry run to see the result without writing anything anywhere.
  6. 6Save and switch it on. It runs on its own from the next scheduled time.

Templates are available on every plan. Running a cron needs a paid plan, and the schedule frequency depends on the plan, from every hour on Starter to every 5 minutes on Teams. See Crons pricing for runs, AI calls and browser minutes per month.

Why scheduled agents beat one off prompts

A chat assistant answers once and forgets. Recurring work is different. A weekly SEO check is only useful if it tells you what changed since last week, and a lead list is only useful if it skips the companies you already have. Crons templates are built around that idea. Memory steps read what the last run saw, compare it with what the agent sees now, and pass on only the difference.

Failed steps retry three times with backoff, and if a run still fails you get an alert by email or Slack. Critical steps such as emailing a customer or writing to your CRM wait for a human approval. Payments are never executed by an agent. You can read more about how this works in memory and approvals.

Customising beyond the template

A template is a starting point, not a fixed product. You can add a condition step that only alerts when a price drops by more than a set amount, add an HTTP request to your own API, swap the Slack channel, or change the schedule to a different timezone. On Pro and Teams you can add sandboxed code steps in JavaScript or Python and trigger the same cron from an inbound webhook, the REST API or the MCP server.

If you change a template heavily, it becomes your own cron and stays in your workspace. Deleting it later does not return the runs it already used in the current billing period, so it is worth trying changes in dry run mode first.

Frequently asked questions

Are the templates free to use?

You can open and read every template without an account. Saving one needs an account, and running it needs a paid plan. There is no free plan. See pricing for details.

Can I edit every step in a template?

Yes. Every step, the instruction, the schedule, the timezone, the memory policy and the destinations are editable. You can also add or remove steps.

Do templates send emails or update my CRM without asking?

No. Steps that email customers, write to a CRM or post to public channels include an approval gate. The run pauses until someone on your team approves.

Which integrations do the templates use?

The current templates use Slack, Gmail, HubSpot, Google Sheets and Notion. You can also send results to any system through a webhook out or an HTTP request step. See integrations.

How many templates can I run at once?

That depends on your plan. Starter allows 10 active crons, Pro allows 50 and Teams has unlimited active crons under fair use, with a monthly run limit on every plan.
